Planting Potatoes

23rd Mar 2022

We have been busy planting potatoes in our class this week.

Six weeks ago we placed the potatoes into the polytunnel to allow them to sprout before planting.

This week, we prepared the soil, dug the trenches and planted the potatoes. We look forward to seeing the results in the autumn.

In October, we covered the soil with cardboard. Cardboard is useful for keeping unwanted plants from growing by biodegrading and feeding the soil in the raised beds over the winter months.
