Creative School

Creativity is important to us here in St. Flannan’s National School. We are extremely excited to have been chosen to participate in the Creative Schools Programme for 2022/2023

Creative Schools is a flagship initiative of the Creative School Programme to enable the creative potential of every child. The Creative Schools is led by the Arts Council in partnership with the Department of Education and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media. Creative Schools aims to provide the opportunity for children to experience creativity as an integral part of their education by building their artistic and creative skills in a collaborative, imaginative and inventive manner.

As part of the Creative Schools Programme our school has been assigned a Creative Associate who will work closely with us here in St. Flannan’s National School. A Creative Associate is a creative practitioner with an understanding of the arts and creativity and its potential to transform the lives of children. A Creative Associate helps to identify potential areas for development and who supports and inspires a school to further enhance these areas.

Our Creative Schools Associate is Brian Fleming. Brian is a percussionist, theatre maker and producer who has worked with many schools in County Clare. We look forward to working with Brian on this project over the next two years.

Our overall goal for the Creative Schools is to give students the opportunity to engage in fun creative workshops and to look at creativity in a new perspective
