Science Week-Making a Volcanic Eruption

12th Nov 2021

We mixed vinegar, baking soda, washing up liquid and food colouring. We watched in awe as our volcano erupted. We found out that vinegar and baking soda react and release carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide builds up and causes the washing up liquid to foam and escape the bottle causing the volcanic eruption. We also had a discussion about how we breathe out carbon dioxide and how we breathe in oxygen and how important our carbon dioxide monitors are in our classrooms.
